Delicious King Cake Donuts Easiest Recipe Ever

These soft almond flour donuts look like small King Cakes and have a cinnamon ribbon in the center. Ideal for Mardi Gras!  

Cinnamon Filling – 1 ½ tablespoon butter melted – 2 teaspoon Swerve Brown – 1 teaspoon cinnamon Donut Batter – ⅓ cup sour cream or greek yogurt – 2 large egg – ⅓ cup Swerve Granular – 3 tablespoon water – ½ teaspoon vanilla extract – 1 ¾ cup almond flour – ¼ cup unflavored whey protein (or egg white protein powder) – 1 teaspoon baking powder – 1 teaspoon cinnamon – ¼ teaspoon salt Glaze and Decoration – ⅓ cup powdered Swerve Sweetener – 2 tablespoon heavy whipping cream – 2 tsp lemon juice – Sugar-free Sanding "sugars" Green, yellow, and purple

Ingredient

Put the brown sugar substitute, melted butter, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients well.

Warm the oven up to 325F and grease a donut pan really well. As there are 8 donut holes, grease them. You might have to work in groups if your pan only has six wells.

Add the sour cream, eggs, sugar, water, and vanilla extract to a blender or food processor. Blend until everything is smooth.

Mix in the salt, cinnamon, baking powder, protein powder, and almond flour until the mixture is smooth.

Fill the well of each donut with enough batter to cover the bottom. Spread some of the cinnamon filling on top of each one, and then cover with the rest of the batter

For 12 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown and hard to the touch, bake. Take it out of the pan and let it cool for 15 minutes. After that, move to a wire rack to cool fully.

Whisk the powdered sugar, cream, and lemon juice together in a small bowl. Cover the donuts with the mixture. Is your sauce too thick?

Add a teaspoon or two of water to thin it out a bit. Sprinkle the three colors of sanding "sugar" on top of each other in a design.
