Easy Hobo Dinner Hamburger Foil Packets Recipe

Easy Hobo Dinners are excellent for foil-packaged hamburgers. This no-cleanup recipe works for camping, grilling, and baking!

For the burgers: – 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef (I prefer 80/20) – 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt – 1/2 teaspoon black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder – 1/2 teaspoon onion powder – 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce For the veggies: – 1 lb. baby potatoes, cubed – 1 lb. mushrooms, quartered – 1 yellow or red onion, thickly sliced – 2 Tablespoons olive oil – 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder – 1/2 teaspoon paprika – 1/2 teaspoon oregano – 1/2 teaspoon parsley – Salt and pepper To serve: – KRAFT Heinz Simply Ketchup – Miracle Whip – Lettuce – Tomato – 4 slices cheddar cheese, or cheese of your choice

See notes for campfire and oven instructions. Preheat grill to 400 degrees. Cut four 2-foot heavy-duty aluminum foil strips.

Step 1

Put meat, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Massage seasonings into beef with your fingertips. Make four patties.

Step 2

Olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, and parsley should be mixed with potatoes, mushrooms, and onions. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 3

If preparing these over a campfire, put a cabbage leaf on the bottom of each foil strip before adding veggies. Otherwise, put veggies in the packets first and the meat on top.

Step 4

Seal the two short sides by folding them. Fold/roll the remaining two sides. Cover and cook the burger directly on the grill grates for 25–30 minutes until 165 degrees.

Step 5

Unwrap the packets carefully—the steam is hot. Top each burger with cheese if desired.

Step  6

Roll up loosely and let cheese melt for a few minutes. Add Miracle Whip or Heinz Simply Ketchup and your preferred toppings to burgers and serve.
