Tasty One-pot Spaghetti Recipe

Easy weeknight dinner: One-Pot Spaghetti the whole family will adore! Cook the pasta and sauce in one pot for a clean supper.

For the Sauce: – 1 pound ground beef OR ground beef and ground pork mix OR mild Italian sausage – 1 large yellow or sweet onion finely diced – 8 ounces cremini/baby bella mushrooms sliced (optional) – 3-4 large cloves of garlic finely  – ¼ cup dry red wine – 2 24 ounce jars of red pasta sauce OR 5-6 cups of homemade pasta  – ½ teaspoons oregano – ½ teaspoon red pepper flake – 1 teaspoon salt – ½ teaspoon black pepper – 1 teaspoon sugar – 3 cups low-sodium chicken stock For the Spaghetti: – 12 ounces regular or thick spaghetti noodle – ½ cup fresh grated parmesan – 1 0.5 ounce container fresh basil, cut into chiffonade – 2 tablespoons fresh parsley finely chopped

Ground beef, pork, onion, mushrooms, and garlic should be cooked completely in a large dutch oven over medium-high heat, draining any extra grease.

Step 1

Deglaze the Dutch oven with red wine.  Add spaghetti sauce, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt/pepper, sugar, and chicken stock.

Step 2

Mix everything together, then bring it to a boil for about 10 minutes. If you need to, you can change the seasonings.

Step 3

Bring to a slow boil. Slice the spaghetti in half and add them to the sauce. Lower the heat to a simmer and stir everything together.

Step 4

Cover and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, turning often so the pasta doesn't stick together.

Step 5

After 12 to 15 minutes, check to see if the spaghetti is done; it may need one or two more minutes.

Step 6

At the end of the cooking time, remove from heat and add grated Parmesan and chiffonade basil.

Step 7

If you want, you can add more parmesan and freshly chopped parsley as a garnish.
